Cooking has been my refuge for years. It's a solace, especially when I'm cooking things I've grown in my own garden. But more than that, to me it's a special kind of magic, making food for the people I love. It's definitely a strong antidote to the questionable values of the Big World: it's slow, caring, mindful, and wonderfully sensual/sensory. I look forward to your cookbook to add to my collection.
Ah that's a kind response, Marg. I like that you grow your own veg. And I'm pleased that you engaged with this post – I truly don't want anyone to feel guilt-tripped by what I write. We each do what we can.
'Having tea with Mara' – indeed! Perfect!
Courage? Stupidity, some would say, at an age where others might consider taking it quietly – simple it might be in terms of our priorities, but very full-on indeed, all the time, after our morning quiet spell! X
Oh how strange, Colleen! And sadly I will be in the UK in June.
Here in Finistère in the far north west, I adore the Crozon peninsula and the whole of the coastline. I write a lot about Huelgoat Forest (see my most recent book, linked to in my Home page) further inland, which is small and enchanted/enchanting. In Cotes d'Armor next door, there are some good spots. In Morbihan, south, the megalithic site of Carnac is spectacular.
Hello again Pauline – I have one last copy, 2nd hand, @ 15 euros inc postage. Did you have a copy of The Burning Ground, my Devon/Brittany novel? Could include that as I have a few :-). x
Pauline, your email hasn't come through and I have no other means of contacting you. Can you try again? If you have 2 email accounts for me please send to both! Rx
Really potent writing here, a fine advertisement for the vegan cookbook. And those lovely photos...!
Wendy, that's kind. Thank you. The current shape of the book owes much to you, as you know; and The Man has pruned another 10K words!

Thanks, Laura. I'm late to the party!
Yes, a kind of magic – exactly. Alchemy. Thank you for reminding me.
Thank you so much for a very authentic and inspiring view of Life

Oh Janey I'm SO pleased you saw it like that! Thank you.
So uplifting and full of a sense that you’re back! You’ve had a tough time lately and now there’s recovery in your words. ❤️
Thanks Pauline - getting there. Hope you're doing well.
An inspirational! life story, and ongoing… Much looking forward to your vegan and alchemical cookbook!
Ah Mari that's a lovely message! Thank you! X
Thanks, Roselle!
You’ve been on an inspiring journey.
Roselle, I’m far from being a vegetarian never mind a vegan. We do grow a limited number of vegetables and eat less and less meat and poultry.
Anxiety affects me too. Slowing down, not working quite so hard and facing what some Buddhists describe as ‘having tea with Mara’, all help.
What you neglect to say, which seems apparent to me, the courage you and TM have. Or have developed! Xxx

Thank you so much for including me, Roselle -- and for this beautiful piece. Also, we'll be in Brittany in June. :) Would love any recommendations!

Can you confirm your email address, Roselle? I sent you an email 4 days ago. Have you checked your spam for sn******56@gmail.com? x
So disorganised, so no idea if I've stored your address anywhere sensible! Do you still have my email address? - TBG = gift.
Sent reply to your email. x
